World Steel Technology
BOM Studio is the platform World Steel built to manage steel structure projects worldwide, including Guyana. Every member of your building has its own ID and QR code, and every step from production to handover is recorded. You follow the same live data our team works with, free of charge for every World Steel client.

Features as described in the BOM Studio feature guide v4.4 (October 2026).

Why We Built It
Most project problems start when information is copied: a quantity retyped from a drawing into a spreadsheet, a packing list that no longer matches the model, a status update sent by email that is already out of date.
BOM Studio removes the copying. The approved Tekla model of your building is read once, and every department works from the same data: engineering, purchasing, production, quality control, logistics and the site. Sales, the project manager, QA/QC and your own team look at one project record, with one ID and one QR code for each member.
What this means for you

The Platform
Real screens from the platform, shown with World Steel's demo project. Select a stage to see what you can follow.
Progress is measured by steel weight, stage by stage, and updated the moment the factory confirms a step. Your weekly report opens from a secure link, on a computer or a phone, with no login.
The 3D model of your building is coloured by the last completed stage of each member, so you see at a glance which parts are cut, welded, inspected, painted, packed or shipped.
Inspection steps are built into the production route. A member that is finished is not passed until a QC inspector records the result, and a failed inspection stays on the record.
Only members released by QC can be packed. Packages are scanned into containers, and each load plan is checked for door clearance, payload, centre of gravity and stacking.
Client packing lists are printed only from the released version, with internal data hidden. Every package has its own QR code so your team can check it on arrival.
On site, a scan of the member's QR code opens its component passport: engineering, production, quality, logistics, position in the building, inspections and photographs.
Erection progress is compared with the plan on the model itself: ahead, on time or late. Updates come from the site team, and accepted work cannot be overwritten.
Handover packages for a zone or the whole building are generated from the project data, with a verification manifest and numbered revisions.
Screens use World Steel's demo project (WSC-DEMO-0726).
What is recorded at each stage, and what you can see.
Your project record is opened: status from quotation through contract to warranty, fabrication standard, surface protection, contract tonnage, delivery date and your World Steel team (Sales, project manager, design engineer, QA/QC).
Technical highlight: One record used by every document.
Related documents: Project page with QR code
The approved Tekla model is read into BOM Studio: every assembly, part, bolt and weld, with drawings attached to the right piece mark. Model errors are flagged before purchasing starts.
Technical highlight: 3D model viewable in any browser.
Related documents: Bill of materials, 3D model
Each member is tracked stage by stage and progress is measured by steel weight. The factory confirms each step by scanning the member's QR label.
Technical highlight: Live progress, coloured 3D model, photographs.
Related documents: Live progress page, weekly reports
Inspection steps and hold points are part of the route. Only a QC inspector can record PASS or FAIL, and non-conformances are tracked to closure.
Technical highlight: Finished does not mean passed.
Related documents: Inspection and weld traceability records
Only QC-released members can be packed. Packages are scanned into containers to a checked load plan, sealed and released as a locked document.
Technical highlight: Packed in erection order.
Related documents: Client packing list, container packing report
Every package carries an international shipping mark with a QR code that opens the project's electronic file.
Technical highlight: Documents and photographs ready before arrival.
Related documents: Shipping marks, document status
Your site team checks the seal and scans each package on arrival, recording any shortage or damage with photographs.
Technical highlight: Nothing is received automatically.
Related documents: Receiving record
Your erection contractor uses the site app: component passport, navigation in the model, erection sequence, 4D plan vs actual and 11 types of inspection.
Technical highlight: Works offline on site.
Related documents: Erection dashboard and inspections
The handover package is generated from the record: register, progress, inspections, NCRs, drawings, logistics and photographs.
Technical highlight: Locked with a SHA-256 manifest.
Related documents: Digital handover package

FAQ
Straight answers on scope, design codes, shipping and what happens in Guyana.
Ask an engineerYes. World Steel gives your team a live demo of BOM Studio and guidance on using it, so everyone knows where to find progress, documents and site tools from the start of the project.
No. BOM Studio is a service exclusively for World Steel clients and is completely free. There is no licence, subscription or per-user fee.
No. BOM Studio runs in a web browser, including the 3D model. Your site team can also use the site app on a phone or tablet, and it keeps working without a connection and synchronises when the connection returns.
Yes. Progress is updated as soon as the factory confirms a step by scanning a member's QR label, and it is measured by steel weight, not by the number of lines in a list. The project page and the report link always show the status at the moment you open them.
Only the people we invite to your project, and people you share a link with. Share links have a defined scope, an expiry date and a PIN, and can be revoked. Documents for clients never show internal information such as user names, internal notes or prices.
Yes, free of charge. Every World Steel client and their local erection contractor get free access to Smart Erection. Your contractor can be invited with a role, such as site manager, installation supervisor or QC inspector, and use the site app to receive packages, find members, follow the erection sequence and record inspections.
A new model revision is read into BOM Studio. Component IDs and installation data are kept, and every released document keeps its revision history.
The client views are available in English. Packing lists, shipping marks and container packing reports can be issued in 19 languages; machine translations are reviewed before they are sent to you.
Permissions are checked on the server for every page and action, QR codes carry no data or access rights, records are append-only, and released documents are locked with a SHA-256 hash.
Tell us about your project. We will give you a live demo of BOM Studio, show how your steel would be tracked from production to handover, and guide your team on using it.
