Cuyuni-Mazaruni (Region 7) is a large interior region of rivers and mining districts, with its capital at Bartica, where the Essequibo, Mazaruni and Cuyuni rivers meet.

About the region
Cuyuni-Mazaruni is one of Guyana's largest regions by area. Bartica is the gateway town; Kamarang and Imbaimadai serve the upper Mazaruni. Its population grew by about 65% between the 2012 and 2022 censuses, the fastest of any region.
Gold and diamond mining is the main economic activity. Pending verification current investments in the region Building needs centre on robust workshops, stores, platforms and camp buildings that can be moved by river and erected with small crews.
