Why steel

A building that fits the process, not the other way round

A manufacturing plant is designed from the inside out: production line, equipment, cranes, utilities, material flow and the people who work there. Steel frames carry crane runways, hung services and mezzanines, and they can be extended when a new line arrives.

We coordinate the structure with your process engineers and equipment suppliers so that loads, clearances and openings are right the first time.

Built into the structure

  • Overhead crane runways and brackets
  • Platforms and mezzanines for equipment
  • Supports for pipework, ducts and cable trays
  • Roof ventilators and wall louvres for heat
  • Large doors for equipment and trucks
  • A grid planned for future production lines

What we fabricate

Manufacturing buildings we supply

Production halls

Single- and multi-span halls for production lines.

Crane buildings

Halls with overhead crane runways designed for the crane data.

Workshops & maintenance buildings

Fabrication, repair and maintenance workshops.

Process platforms & mezzanines

Access platforms, equipment floors and stairs.

Utility & ancillary buildings

Compressor, generator and electrical rooms, stores and canteens.

Structural options for manufacturing plants

SystemBest forWhat to consider
Portal frame without craneLight assembly and packagingHung loads and services still need to be known
Portal frame with crane runwayHandling heavy parts and materialsCrane capacity, span, wheel loads and duty from the crane supplier
Multi-span hallLarge production areasValley gutters and column positions coordinated with the line
Hall with mezzanineOffices, control rooms, light storageFloor loads and vibration limits
Lean-to and annexUtilities and stores beside the hallDrainage and expansion joints at the connection

Crane, equipment and vibration loads come from the equipment suppliers and are confirmed before design is finalised.

Design considerations

Engineered for Guyana conditions

Heat in production areas

Ventilation and insulated roofs to keep working areas cooler.

Process & equipment loads

Hung loads, platforms and vibrating machinery coordinated with process engineers.

Fire protection

Fire resistance, where required by the authority or the insurer, specified by the designer.

Corrosion

Higher-performance coating systems for aggressive process environments or coastal sites.

Rain & drainage

Roof drainage sized for tropical rainfall, including valley gutters on multi-span halls.

Expansion

Grid and end walls planned for future lines.

Specification

Crane and equipment data we need

Cranes and heavy equipment govern the frame design. Ask your crane supplier for the data below; we design runway beams, brackets and frames to it and coordinate the interface.

Crane data

  • Crane type and capacity
  • Span and hook height
  • Maximum wheel loads and wheel spacing
  • Duty class / service class
  • Number of cranes on each runway
  • Rail type and end-stop requirements

How we work

From enquiry to delivery in Guyana

How a manufacturing plant project moves from your first drawing to delivery.

  1. 01

    Enquiry & brief

You send the use, size, location in Guyana, loads you know of, drawings and the Incoterms you want quoted.

Technical highlight: Site location, use and timeline

Related documents: RFQ form or email

  2. 02

    Concept & budget quotation

Our engineers propose a structural concept and a budget price with a clear scope and exclusions.

Technical highlight: Clear span vs. multi-span, frame type, coating system

Related documents: Concept sketch, scope of supply

  3. 03

    Design & approval drawings

Design is developed and coordinated with your engineer of record for local approval.

Technical highlight: Loads, connections, anchor bolt plan

Related documents: General arrangement, anchor bolt plan, design basis

  4. 04

    Fabrication in Long An, Vietnam

Members are cut, welded, drilled, inspected and coated in our factory.

What to send us for an accurate quotation

The more of this information you can share, the faster and more accurate the quotation. Approximate figures are fine at enquiry stage; our engineers confirm everything with you before production.

Your checklist

  • Process layout and equipment list
  • Crane data from the crane supplier
  • Clear height and door sizes
  • Utilities to be supported by the structure
  • Site location in Guyana

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on scope, design codes, shipping and what happens in Guyana.

Ask an engineer
Can you supply crane runway beams?

Yes, as part of the structure, once the crane data (capacity, span, wheel loads, duty) is confirmed by the crane supplier.

Do you supply the cranes themselves?

Overhead cranes are supplied by crane manufacturers; we coordinate the structural interface. Pending verification confirm whether World Steel can source cranes

Can the plant be extended later?

Yes. The column grid and end walls are planned so new bays can be added.

Can you design for vibrating machinery?

Yes, when the equipment supplier provides the dynamic loads; heavy machines usually sit on separate foundations.

Do you supply mezzanines and stairs?

Yes, as part of the structural package.
