About the region
Upper Demerara-Berbice includes Linden on the Demerara River, Kwakwani on the Berbice River and the communities along the Soesdyke–Linden Highway. Linden is the starting point of the road corridor south to Lethem.
Bauxite mining has long been the main industry, with ore shipped from Linden down the Demerara River. Budget 2026 funds the Soesdyke–Linden Highway and the Linden–Mabura Hill road. Pending verification new investments in Linden
Workshops, plants and warehouses for mining and logistics along the new southern corridor are typical opportunities, together with public buildings.
