BOM Studio · Risk
Buying a steel building from overseas means trusting a factory you cannot visit every day. BOM Studio replaces that trust with evidence. Each risk that can delay or damage your project is controlled by a check in the system, and every check leaves a record you can see.
From design to handover.
| Risk | How BOM Studio controls it | The record you can see |
|---|---|---|
| Model errors reach purchasing and the factory | The model is checked on import: outdated numbering, duplicate marks with different members, wrong materials | Model warnings resolved before release |
| Wrong quantities or weights | One data set for the BOM, purchasing, production and packing; totals always agree | BOM and Excel exports from the model |
| Wrong drawing revision in the factory | Drawings and fabrication files are attached to the right mark automatically | Drawing register by mark |
| Delays you only hear about late | Progress measured by weight and updated when each step is scanned | Live progress page and weekly reports |
| Defects passed as finished | Inspections in the route, hold points, PASS / FAIL by QC only | Inspection records and NCRs |
| Unqualified welding | Only authorised welders with valid certificates and approved procedures can report welding | Weld traceability by welder and WPS |
| Members with open problems shipped | Only QC-released, painted members without open NCRs can be packed | Eligibility check at packing |
| Missing or wrong members in containers | QR scan packing, serial control, no member packed twice | Released packing list and package QR codes |
| Containers loaded badly | Load plans checked for clearances, payload, centre of gravity and stacking | Approved load plan and loading photographs |
| Documents changed after shipment | Released packing lists and handover packages locked with SHA-256; amendments need a reason and approval | Verification line and amendment log |
| Shortages or damage on arrival | Seal check and package scanning at receiving, with photographs | Receiving record and discrepancies |
| Members arriving in the wrong order | Packing by erection zone and sequence, early-needed members flagged | Container to erection report |
| Erection on unapproved drawings | Members with unapproved drawings placed on DRAWING HOLD | Drawing register and holds |
| Incomplete records at handover | Handover generated from the data, by zone or final | Handover package with manifest |
Principles
Applied to every part of BOM Studio.
Every page and action is checked on the server by project, department and role. Hiding a button is never the only protection.
A QR code carries only a signed reference. It holds no password, token or data, and a forged code is rejected.
Production cannot approve QC, site updates cannot accept their own work, and approving packing lists is a separate permission.
Reports, inspections, scans and corrections are append-only, with old and new values, who and why.
Released packing lists, approved weld revisions and handover packages are locked snapshots with SHA-256.
Client links and QR codes show only released documents and published photographs, never internal notes, QC details or prices.
Tell us about your project and your concerns. We will show you how each one would be controlled and reported.
