Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ
General
Straight answers on scope, design codes, shipping and what happens in Guyana.
Ask an engineerDoes World Steel have a factory, office or crew in Guyana?
No. World Steel manufactures in Vietnam and exports to Guyana. Activities in Guyana such as permits, foundations, customs clearance and erection are carried out by the client or licensed local partners, supported by World Steel drawings and documentation.
What scope can World Steel supply?
Engineering coordination, shop and erection drawings, fabrication, inspection, surface treatment, export packing, container loading and shipping coordination to the agreed port in Guyana. The scope of each project is agreed in the proposal.
What information do you need for a quotation?
Building dimensions, building use, project location, crane and mezzanine requirements, cladding and insulation preferences, coating requirements and target schedule. Drawings, specifications or a BOQ allow a faster, more accurate quotation.
FAQ
Engineering
Straight answers on scope, design codes, shipping and what happens in Guyana.
Ask an engineerWhich design standards do you use?
We work to the code and specification set for the project, in coordination with the project's engineer of record. Commonly referenced standards include AISC 360, ASCE 7, AWS D1.1, EN 1090 and Eurocode 3. The requirements applicable in Guyana are confirmed for each project.
Can you provide stamped drawings for permits in Guyana?
Where a stamp by a locally registered engineer is required, this is provided by a registered engineer in Guyana appointed by the client or a local partner. World Steel provides the design documentation and calculations to support that review where included in scope.
Do you design foundations?
Foundations are designed and built locally, based on a soil investigation at the site. World Steel supplies column base reactions and anchor bolt layouts so the local engineer can design the foundations.
FAQ
Shipping to Guyana
Straight answers on scope, design codes, shipping and what happens in Guyana.
Ask an engineerHow are steel buildings shipped to Guyana?
Components are packed and loaded into containers (or shipped as breakbulk for oversized items where needed) according to a loading plan based on actual component sizes and weights. Shipping is coordinated from Vietnam to the agreed port of discharge in Guyana.
How many containers will my building need?
This depends on the final design and packing plan. We confirm container numbers after the design is developed and never commit to a count in advance.
Who handles customs clearance in Guyana?
Customs clearance, port handling and inland transport are handled by the client's customs broker and logistics partners. World Steel prepares the export and shipping documents they need.
FAQ
Durability
Straight answers on scope, design codes, shipping and what happens in Guyana.
Ask an engineerHow do you protect steel from corrosion in a coastal climate?
We assess the expected exposure at the site and recommend a protective paint system, hot-dip galvanizing or a duplex system accordingly, with reference to ISO 12944 and ISO 1461. There is no single corrosion category for all of Guyana.
FAQ
Pre-engineered buildings
Straight answers on scope, design codes, shipping and what happens in Guyana.
Ask an engineerIs a pre-engineered building always cheaper?
No. A PEB is often efficient for regular single-storey buildings with clear spans, but the most economical system depends on span, loads, height, cranes, finishes, site access and logistics. We compare options on your actual project.
Can a PEB be extended later?
Yes, if planned. End walls can be designed as expandable frames so that additional bays can be added later with minimal disruption.
