Two Easter-weekend traditions
The Easter weekend in Guyana is also the time of two well-known regional events.
The Rupununi Rodeo in Lethem, Region 9, celebrates the ranching (vaquero) culture of the Rupununi savannahs with bronco riding, roping and other rodeo events, music and local food.
The Bartica Regatta in Bartica, Region 7, at the meeting of the Essequibo, Mazaruni and Cuyuni rivers, is known for boat racing and festivities on the river.
Exact dates and programmes are announced by the organisers each year.
