Kite day in Guyana
Easter Monday is a national public holiday and one of the most colourful days of the Guyanese year. Families head to the sea wall in Georgetown, the National Park and open fields across the country to fly kites.
Many kites are handmade from coloured paper, thin sticks and string, and some carry a "singer" that hums in the wind. The sky fills with kites of every size while families picnic and share food.
