Celebrating the Caribbean Community
CARICOM Day is a national public holiday in Guyana, observed on the first Monday of July. It marks the signing of the Treaty of Chaguaramas on 4 July 1973, which established the Caribbean Community and Common Market (CARICOM).
Guyana has a special place in CARICOM: the Community's Secretariat is headquartered in Georgetown. The day celebrates regional unity, trade and cultural ties across the Caribbean.
